CE0200739 INACO - INnovative strategies for the Adoption of risk management plans to enhance the resilience of sensitive Cultural and natural heritage Objectives against climate hazards in river basin districts

acronym
INACO
description

INACO aims at improving the resilience of the Central European regions in facing climate change impacts on environmental, cultural, socio-economic and human assets. Measures, information tools and risk management plans will be developed in order to support the regions in facing this challenge and improve the capacities of local authorities to develop risk management plans aimed at protecting the most sensitive sites (cultural and natural resources) within river basin districts, through information technologies and the direct involvement of citizens. To maximise synergies between the political, governmental and operational levels including citizens in the field of disaster awareness an integrated approach is applied. Project activities will be focused on 1 - Enhancing strategies for increasing resilience of sensitive CNH assets in CE river basin districts. The objective will be tailoring and improving jointed strategies to enhance/adopt risk management plans for river basin areas which include CNH at risk, through the strengthening of local authorities’ capacity and the involvement of citizens. 2 - Web based solution for safeguarding CNH sensitive objectives of river basin districts in a changing environment. These set of activities will be focused on the update and improvement of the Risk mapping tool developed within the projects Protecht2save and STRENCH and it will be focused on the pilot actions implementation. The aim of this activities is to channelling efforts, lessons learned and tool developed in the previous activities and put in place tangible and measurable actions to enhance competences of key local stakeholders entrusted with management of CNH sites of the river basin districts covered by the INACO Partners. 3 - Elaboration of Risk Management Plans for CNH sites in river basin districts. This WP will be focused on the setting up of the risk management plan, risk managers setting role definition and solutions development.

Scientific Service for Fiducial Reference Measurements for Aerosol Product Cal/Val Activities (FRM4AER)

acronym
FRM4AER-EUMETSAT
description

The Fiducial Reference Measurements (FRM) are a suite of independent, fully characterised, and traceable ground measurements that follow the guidelines outlined by the GEO/CEOS Quality Assurance framework for Earth Observation (QA4EO). According the QA4EO website, "QA4EO is driven by the key principle that all measurements/processes must have associated quality indicators (QIs) based on documented evidence of traceability to reference standards agreed by the scientific community". The Scientific Service is focused on Aerosol Product Cal/Val Activities. The aim of this study is to set up and maintain a fiducial reference database for aerosol measurements in line with the current needs being driven by all the current and future Near Real Time (NRT) aerosol retrievals provided by EUMETSAT. There exists a wealth of data and algorithms of potential use for this purpose. In this section we will describe the ones we consider more relevant for the Service, as they constitute state-of-the-art observations and algorithms, are available for the intended use and have the potential to serve and also benefit from the Service outputs
