Interreg Central Europe Project INACO

KoM INACO Bologna 2024

From 11 to 13 June, the Kick Off Meeting of the Interreg Central Europe 2021-2027 project “INACO - INnovative strategies for the Adoption of risk management plans to enhance the resilience of sensitive Cultural and Natural heritage Objectives against climate hazards in river basin districts” was held at the headquarters of the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate in the Bologna Research Area.

The project, which started last 1 June and will end on 30 November 2026, is coordinated by CNR-ISAC (PI Alessandra Bonazza) and sees the participation, besides CNR-ISAC, of ten other partners: PDPO - Po Delta Regional Park (Italy); SISTEMA - Environmental Information Mining, UWK - University for Continuing Education Krems, BAW - Federal Agency for Water Management (Austria); ITAM CAS - Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (Czech Republic); LBDCA - Lake Balaton Development Coordination Agency (Hungary); FO - District Council Forchheim (Germany); FOK - Foundation for Landscape Protection (Poland); TUKE - Technical University of Košice (Slovakia); IRD - Institute for the Restoration of Dubrovnik (Croatia).

During the KoM, the objectives, structure and expected results of the project were presented with regard to the three planned Work Pakages: WP T1 - Enhancing strategies for increasing resilience of sensitive CNH assets in CE river basin districts; WP T2 - Solutions for safeguarding CNH sites in river basin districts from climate change risks (LP, CNR ISAC); WP T3 - Elaboration of Risk Management Plans for CNH sites in river basin districts.

The project will be developed through the analysis of the following eight pilot cases, representative of three different contexts: A) MARINE/FLUVIAL RIVER such as natural reserve, historical villages and gardens in a river/sea transition environment (Comacchio Valleys, Po Delta River - Italy, Dubrovnik River - Croatia); B) LAKE RIVER such as natural reserve, historical buildings and archaeological sites in a lake environment (Lake Neusiedl - Austria, City of Fonyód - Hungary); C) INLAND such as monumental complexes, historical parks and gardens in the inland river basin (Wiesent and Rednitz Valley - Germany, Jelenia Gorà Valley - Poland, Košice Region - Slovakia, Vltava River Valley in Central Bohemia - Czech Republic).
