Satellite precipitation estimate of Medicane Ianos from H SAF products developed at ISAC
On September 14-20, 2020, a Mediterranean cyclone with tropical-like characteristics, commonly known as “Medicane” swept across the South-eastern Mediterranean basin. The Medicane named Udine, according to the official denomination given by the University of Berlin, hit the coasts of Sicily and Calabria and made landfall on the western coasts of Greece on September 18th, 2020.

SMART simulation of the fire in the harbour of Ancona on September 16th 2020
As done for the accident in Marghera on past 15th of May (http://www.isac.cnr.it/en/news/smart-simulation-fire-3v-sigma-plant-marghera-venice-may-15th-2020), also the recent fire occurred in the harbour of Ancona has been simulated with SMART modelling suite, as new test case. The emission term has been elaborated by ARIANET Srl. The release starts at 23 UTC on 15th September.

E' stato conferito alla ricercatrice ISAC Cristina Mangia il Premio Pegaso per l’Ambiente 2020 per la sua intensa attività di ricerca finalizzata allo studio del clima e dell’ambiente.
Il Premio Pegaso per l’Ambiente è promosso dall’Associazione ATA-PC Lecce per conferire un riconoscimento a coloro che, sul territorio nazionale e locale, si sono distinti in particolari azioni rivolte alla tutela e alla salvaguardia dell’ambiente e degli animali.
