Kick off LOLIPOP - Climate Change Initiative of ESA

LOLIPOP

On November 15th, 2023 the Kick Off of the project ‘Long Lived greenhouse gas PrOducts Performances (LOLIPOP)’ has been held at the CNR-ISAC premises in Bologna. The project is the last of a long series of project of the ‘Climate Change Initiative’ of the European Space Agency (ESA). The project is led by Dr. Bianca Maria Dinelli and Dr. Elisa Castelli of CNR-ISAC and involves 10 research institutes (among which CNR-ISAC and CNR-IFAC) of 6 ESA countries (Italy, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany and United Kingdom). The goal of the project is to understand if the quality of the existing satellite measurements of greenhouse gases (not including carbon dioxide and methane) is sufficient to be  merged and directly used in weather forecast and climate models and which could be the impact of the direct use of these satellite measurements in the performances of such models.
