CULTURAL HERITAGE CHALLENGES CLIMATE CHANGE

Date

In spite of the significant resources addressed up to now at European level for safeguarding cultural heritage, still further efforts are required in order to guarantee a sustainable management of monumental complexes, archaeological sites and related collections exposed to extreme events linked to climate change.
In this perspective, tools for risk mapping, transnational preparedness strategies, coordinated evacuation plans in emergency situations and systems for early warning specifically dedicated to the protection of heritage assets, need to be set up and subsequently integrated in the approaches and international agreements for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
With its proposed outputs and solutions, the Interreg Project ProteCHt2save aims at supporting policy and decision makers in the short and long term management of cultural heritage at risk in Central Europe.
