The final conference of Horizon 2020 GEO4CIVHIC project will be held on November 15th, 2023, at Grand Hotel Excelsior in Floriana (Malta). The project, started in April 2018, is coordinated by ISAC in the person of Adriana Bernardi and will end on November 30th, 2023.
GEO4CIVHIC (Most easy efficient and low cost geothermal systems for retrofitting civil and historical buildings) was aimed at research and development of innovative solutions devoted to shallow geothermal energy use in urban environment through a holistic approach.
The goals of GEO4CIVHIC project were achieved by facilitating installation, reducing costs and increasing efficiency of the different components of shallow geothermal systems.
During the project, on one hand, technological solutions were developed, by enhancing drilling machines and methodologies, by optimizing ground source heat exchanger design and materials, and by designing more compact and hybrid heat pumps suitable to high and low temperature terminals; on the other hand, a set of software tools was created in order to provide a holistic engineering solution to optimize installation and operation of shallow geothermal systems.
Project consortium is made of 19 partners from 9 European countries.
