Research Activity

Karam Mansour is a researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). His research activities are on "Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions" particularly the influence of marine biological activity on aerosol physico-chemical and cloud properties. His research experiences include the applications of machine learning algorithms on complex environmental systems, predictions of marine biogenic emissions to elucidate their roles in aerosol-cloud-climate interactions and feedback, characterization and source regions attribution of atmospheric aerosols through statistical treatment of experimental datasets and air mass back-trajectories, and analysis of long-term and historical time series of atmospheric, land and oceanic climate variables from different sources (in situ observations, reanalysis, satellites, etc..). He received his PhD in 'Oceanography and Atmospheric Physics' from the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2021, defending a thesis titled “Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions: Linking Oceanic Biological Activity to Marine Aerosol Physico-Chemical and Cloud Properties”.
