Research Activity

My main research activities are related to the study of the transport processes that modulate the atmospheric composition variability at high-elevation and remote sites (e.g., Northern Apennines, Alps, Antarctica, Himalayas). Particular attention is given to: long-range transport, mineral dust transport events, and stratosphere-to-troposphere exchange events. Moreover, my interests also concern the investigation of long-term trends for several pollutants (such as tropospheric ozone), and the development of QA/QC procedures for atmospheric composition datasets collected at several observatories.

Since 2022, I am Principal Investigator (PI) for the nitrogen oxides measurements carried out at the WMO/GAW Monte Cimone (Northern Apennines) and Capo Granitola (Sicily) observatories. I am also the PI of the PNRA project STEAR (“Stratosphere-to-Troposphere Exchange in the Antarctic Region), started in 2020.
