Research Activity

Daniele Casella is a researcher with the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate. He received the Laurea Degree in physics and the PH.D. degree in remote sensing from the Sapienza University of Rome, in  2006 and 2011, respectively. From 2007 to 2016 he has been at CNR-ISAC where he was involved in several research and operational projects with EUMETSAT, ESA, ASI and Italian Civil Protection. He has been responsible for the development of the EUMETSAT H-SAF precipitation retrieval algorithms for conical scanning radiometers. From 2016 to 2018 he has been Senior radiometer Expert with Serco Italy, within the ESA contract IDEAS+. He is author of more than 30 scientific papers in international journals. His research interests include the radiative transfer simulation trough precipitating clouds, the development of algorithms for the retrieval of precipitation from satellite, the remote sensing of snow and snowfall and the study and simulation of new passive microwave radiometers.
