The scope of the project is to use the SkySpec-2D - DOAS system and the Automatic Lidar Celiometer aerosols profiles (both installed at the “Giorgio Fea” observatory in San Pietro Capofiume (Bologna)) to investigate the impact of NO2 aerosol profiles used as initial guess in TROPOMI NO2 retrievals on NO2 satellite tropospheric products. During the project a code for the retrieval of aerosol and NO2 profiles from DOAS measurements will be developed and validated. Then we will evaluate the quality of retrieved aerosol profiles using ACL data and evaluate the impact of NO2 a-priori profiles over NO2 TROPOMI validation of tropospheric columns correcting the satellite data with ground-based retrieved NO2 profiles. A comparison of ground based aerosol profiles with corresponding satellites products will also be performed.
