Dr. Andrea Alessandri is senior scientist at the Institute of Atmospheric Science and Climate (ISAC) of the National Research Council (CNR) where, since September 2021, he is co-coordinating the research division focused on “Climate and Meteorology, Modelling and Earth Observations (CAMEO)”. He joined CNR-ISAC on April 1st 2020 after completing his MSCA individual grant PROCEED at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) aimed at achieving improved Earth system predictions on multiple time scales (https://proceed.isac.cnr.it/PROCEED). He has an interdisciplinary background and a wide experience in studying climate variability/change and prediction/predictability. Besides, he is a specialist in modeling land surface processes and of their couplings and feedbacks with the other components of the climate system. He is chair of the Land processes Working Group in the EC-Earth consortium for the development of a European Earth system model (http://www.ec-earth.org).
