<p>Alessio is a climate and ocean scientist. Before joining CNR (February 2021), Alessio worked at the Centro EuroMediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (2006-2021) and at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (2002-2006).</p>
<p>His research interests are in the role of the ocean in global climate with specific emphasis on midlatitude climate variability at decadal and interdecadal timescales, ocean-atmosphere interactions in the North Atlantic sector, and climate predictability and predictions. He has been involved in a number of European Commission funded projects including the FP5 ENACT, FP6 ENSEMBLES and CIRCE, FP7 COMBINE (as WP leader) and CLIM-RUN, Horizon 2020 PRIMAVERA (local PI and WP leader), Blue-Action, and EUCP (WP leader), the JPI Oceans and Climate project ROADMAP (local PI) and the C3S_34c Prototype Service for Decadal Climate Predictions.
