V. Levizzani, C. Kidd, D. B. Kirshbaum, C. D. Kummerow, K. Nakamura, and J. Turk are the editors of the new Springer’s book “Satellite Precipitation Measurement”. The book offers a complete overview of the measurement of precipitation from space including the advancements of science and technology achieved during the last two decades. Thanks to the unique contributions from field experts and from the International Precipitation Working Group (IPWG, http://ipwg.isac.cnr.it/), the current satellite programs are described together with the major precipitation products, their validation, and applications. Studies focusing on the observed characteristics of precipitation and planning for future satellite missions complete the treated topics.
