Extreme weather events such as tornadoes are increasingly documented in Italy. A recent research, carried out by the CNR-ISAC and published on Atmospheric Research, confirms that there are specific areas more affected by these phenomena; one of these is represented by the central Tyrrhenian regions of the Italian peninsula.
The work permitted to identify the prevalent synoptic configurations associated with tornadoes in the area, and to evaluate the predictive capabilities of such phenomena through the analysis of a case study.
