The Didacta Italia Fair, which will be held from 20 to 22 March 2024 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, represents the main meeting point for those involved in education, training and didactics in our country. There will be exhibitors, conferences, seminars and an area dedicated to music and sound.
The presence of researchers from the Italian National Research Council (CNR) at the Didacta Italia 2024 event underlines the commitment and excellence in research and innovation, also in the field of school education. The participation of research groups from all over Italy, with more than ninety researchers and over twenty groups represented, is an indicator of the importance attributed within the organisation to this sector.
The Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate of the CNR (CNR-ISAC) will be showcasing innovations in the improvement of school buildings, with a particular focus on the importance of environmental quality and the microclimate inside classrooms. Using state-of-the-art monitoring technologies and innovative study methodologies, CNR-ISAC aims to engage students and teachers in experiences that aim to understand how air quality and thermo-hygrometric comfort affect not only the building's energy performance, but above all the students' cognitive and learning abilities.
Researchers Gianluca Cadelano and Alessandro Bortolin from the Padua headquarter of CNR-ISAC will present the prototype of a measuring instrument developed specifically for this purpose. This device makes it possible to assess in real time the physical variables that characterise the indoor environment, including air temperature, mean radiant temperature, relative humidity, illuminance, concentration of carbon dioxide, particulate matter and volatile organic components.
The aim is to understand how young students psychophysically perceive the effects of the classroom environment, with results that may differ significantly from adult expectations. This and other issues will be developed in the context of the PNRR Inest project, with Spoke 5 that in particular has the shared goal of developing innovative, intelligent, sustainable and digitally driven living and working systems and environments within a human-centred design framework. CNR-ISAC's participation in the Didacta event represents a unique opportunity to learn about new frontiers in the design of educational spaces and to promote an optimal and sustainable learning environment for future generations.
