Dr. Decesari is research director at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). He has been working in the field of physical and chemical processes in multiphase atmospheric systems (aerosols and clouds) for more than 20 years. He has developed original chemical methodologies for source attribution of complex organic atmospheric particulate matter in airborne particles. He is author or coauthor of more than 100 peer-reviewed publications (H-index = 60). He took part to twelve EU research projects dealing with atmospheric particulate matter impacts on climate and air quality and he coordinated three international experimental field campaigns. He is a specialist of atmospheric organic aerosol chemistry with experience on biomass burning aerosols and biogenic organic aerosols in hotspot areas: the Mediterranean, tropical forests, high mountain areas and cold climates. He is currently in charge of coordinating polar research in ISAC: he is involved in AMAP (https://www.amap.no/) and PACES (https://pacesproject.org/) and he is the Italian representative of the Atmosphere Working Group of IASC (https://iasc.info/working-groups/atmosphere).
