Short Bio

Mario Marcello Miglietta is director of research at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-ISAC) since 2019. He has been member of the Institute Steering Committee and currently he is the coordinator for the macro area "Climate And Meteorology, modeling and Earth Observations" (CAMEO). PhD in physics, he was an officer for the Italian Air Force from 1994 to 2001, as member of the National Meteorological Service, CNR-ISAC researcher from 2001 to 2019, and full professor in Oceanography and Atmospheric Physics at the University of Bari (2023-2024). He is the national representative at the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS), and he was recently elected as member of the International Commission on Dynamic Meteorology (ICDM). He is currently guest professor at University of Innsbruck, adjoint professor at University of Padua and at University of Salento. He is member of the Editorial Board of the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society and of Atmospheric Research. He is currently co-chair of the orographic convection Working Group in the international TEAMx programme (http://www.teamx-programme.org), and member of the TIM campaign steering group (https://tim-campaign.eu).
