Short Bio

I study the physical processes in the atmospheric boundary layer, the circulation and turbulence in the atmosphere and the phenomena of transport and diffusion of airborne tracer substances, in complex terrain and in the presence of obstacles. I contribute to the development of what I define meteo-dispersive modelling systems, integrating atmospheric circulation models and Lagrangian particle dispersion models, from the large scale to the mesoscale up to the urban scale. Our models are applied for environmental impact studies, in the emergency context response and olfactory nuisance, and lately to the dispersion of emerging pollutant such as microplastics. I enjoy teaching as an Adjunct Professor at the Dept. of Physics, Turin University, and dedicating some time to editorial duties, as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Meteorology and Atmospheric Physics, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Air and Waste Management Association. I am the Chair of the Initiative on Harmonisation within Atmospheric Dispersion Modeling for Regulatory Purposes and member and Italian representative of the Steering Committee of the International Technical Meeting on Air Pollution Modeling and its Application (ex) NATO/SPS. https://www.harmo.org/ https://itm2026.vito.be/en/about-itm
