Smoke in the valleys: the 'case' of the Sacco valley in Italy investigated by ISAC "Aerolab"

 

In the Italian environmental rankings, the “small” town of Frosinone is among the most polluted in Italy in terms of atmospheric particulate (PM10)

To understand the reasons of such a situation, the CNR-ISAC researchers installed an instrument to measure the “black carbon” fraction of PM10, discovering that the main component of the pollution comes from the wood combustion. Such component is crucial in exceeding the legal threshold
