22 Aprile: Earth Day & March for Science
On April 22 2017, two public initiatives will take place in Washington DC, USA: the Earth-Day and the March for Science (http://www.earthday.org/).
The Earth-day initiative comes from the idea that education is the foundation for progress, and that an adequate knolewdge and awareness of environmental protection, and about climate and its changes are more than ever necessary.
The March for Science, promoted among the other by the American Physical Society (APS), wants to promote open science, and defend adequate public funding of science and research. The call for the March for Science has been acknowledged world wide, in particular the European Physical Society, gathering more than 40 national societies for physics research, and the Italian physical Society (SIF) are promoting initiatives taking place on the same day and with the same goals.
This year Earth-Day and the March for Science are co-organising the event and gathering efforts to defend the vital public service role science plays in our lives and our societies.
