(La completa visualizzazione al momento non e' possible se si utilizza Internet Explorer)At the CNR-ISAC Institute a Numerical Weather Prediction chain has been implemented, in the frame of an agreement between the Department of Civil Protection of Italy and CNR-ISAC. High resolution mesoscale forecasts are provided up to 72 hours over European domain, 48 hours over Italy. The model chain comprises the hydrostatic model BOLAM and the non-hydrostatic model MOLOCH, nested in BOLAM. Both models have been developed at the ISAC Institute, Bologna. BOLAM has a horizontal grid spacing of 0.10 deg in rotated coordinates (about 11 km), with 50 levels and a parameterization (Kain-Fritsch) of moist convection. MOLOCH has a horizontal grid spacing of 0.0207 deg, corresponding to 2.3 km, with 56 levels. Moist deep convection is computed explicitely. The initial and boundary conditions are derived from the analyses (00 UTC) and forecasts of the GFS - NCEP (USA) global model. The numerical integrations are made on a Linux PC cluster (Debian GNU Linux). Forecasts are provided mainly for scientific and experimental purposes.
